Sin is the outward manifestation of inward corruption or error, present within every single person on the planet. As the Bible describes, it’s the end result of a heart (spirit) which is separated from God. We discuss its origin, its prevalence, and its cure.

What Is Love?

A lantern with 3 lit candles sits in the right foreground, and a small, bright green plant in a terracotta pot is in the left foreground. The blurred background contains a small yard with multicolored flowers in the distance and a patch of tall grass in front of them.

What does it mean to love someone? Are there different kinds of love? Is love just a feeling? What is love? Everybody has their ideas!  Songs have been sung about it. Poems have been written about it. What is love?

I Can’t Do This

A nature trail with a gravel path from left upper to right lower in the picture. The path becomes very rocky and difficult to walk on at the bottom of the picture.

Everyone has said I can’t do this at some point. We go through life and do the best we can, but eventually we face a time when our ‘best’ isn’t good enough. We’re lost and don’t know what to do.

Trust In the Lord With All Your Heart!

The flames of a brick and stone oven are pictured though the open mouth of the oven. A hand holds a large oven spatula on the right side, with green foliage in the upper left corner and pink flowers in the upper right corner of the picture.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. That is the biblical instruction found in Proverbs 3:5, and if you’ve been a Christian for a while then I’m sure you’ve heard it quoted often. Doing so promises safety, provision, and

God Resists the Proud – Part 3

Lion Lipstick of Rekero Pride late evening in Masai Mara, Kenya - by Maggy Meyer

The Word of God has quite a bit to say about why God resists the proud, being proud, and its destructive effects. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look,

When Things Go Wrong

Forest-covered mountains drop off into the sea. The sky is overcast and clouds are low and mixing with the mist coming off the tops of the mountains.

What do you do when things go wrong? The answer to that question reveals a lot about who we are and where our confidence is placed. Equal Opportunity Situations Everybody (saved and unsaved alike) enjoys the good days, right? My

Self-Evaluation

A gray two-story home set in a winter landscape. Snow is piled up in front of the house with a snowman in the right, front foreground, mixed foliage trees on the left and a snow-covered mountain in the background with blue sky overhead.

I have tried to develop a habit of self-evaluation over the years and it has served me well. Self-evaluation continuously teaches me to think objectively about myself and my reactions to the things going on around me. Self-evaluation helps me

Culture Wars

A classic granite Greco-Roman governmental building is in the foreground, showing columns, blocks and a dome. The dome sits atop the rotunda, which has a large entrance to the left and another section of the building to the right, at right angels to the rotunda. A blue shy with scattered white clouds is in the background.

What does the term culture wars mean? Simply put, it means that there is a fight to change the underlying culture of this country. However, with all the turmoil in the world, I’m pretty sure that term applies to most
