Frustration

A multi-colored sunset with clouds of various hues.

I’m currently in a season of learning how to deal with frustration. I’m frustrated with my finances. I’m frustrated with family. I’m frustrated with my house. I’m frustrated with unbelievers. I’m frustrated with my wife. I’m frustrated with this blog

Give Up, Not Give In

An outdoor stone Sundial, with aged bronze face, is set against a brick walkway background.

Do you ever have the feeling that things aren’t going the way you want or expect them to go? I know I do, and it’s very frustrating. Do you ever face the temptation to give up because of that frustration?

God Uses the Weak – Part 3

An abandoned wooden storefront is in the center of the image, with weeds surrounding the ground and vines growing up the sides and front of the building. A clear blue sky is overhead.

The fact that God uses the weak is shown in both the Old and New Testaments, and there are many examples of how – and why – He did so. We have already looked at one of those examples in

God Uses the Weak – Part 2

An abandoned wooden storefront is in the center of the image, with weeds surrounding the ground and vines growing up the sides and front of the building. A clear blue sky is overhead.

God Uses the Weak

An abandoned wooden storefront is in the center of the image, with weeds surrounding the ground and vines growing up the sides and front of the building. A clear blue sky is overhead.

Sometimes I feel useless in my walk with God. Do you ever feel that way, too? I’ve heard that God uses the weak to accomplish His plan, but there are times when I have trouble believing that.  Why is that

What Is Love?

A lantern with 3 lit candles sits in the right foreground, and a small, bright green plant in a terracotta pot is in the left foreground. The blurred background contains a small yard with multicolored flowers in the distance and a patch of tall grass in front of them.

What does it mean to love someone? Are there different kinds of love? Is love just a feeling? What is love? Everybody has their ideas!  Songs have been sung about it. Poems have been written about it. What is love?

Social Justice Warriors

A stone walkway leads to stone steps curving upwards from left bottom to right upper frame of the picture. There is a water spillway on the right side of the walkway, and various plants and shrubs line either side. beneath a clear, blue sky.

Foundations of Evolution

A hillside of orange dirt worn away by wind and waves, topped with grasses and trees, The bare roots of the trees are exposed and the trees look weather beaten and gnarled.

I was recently involved in a Disqus exchange regarding the bias present in the Creation/Evolution controversy. Eventually the discussion focused on the foundations of evolution and why many seem to have such animus against the concept of creation. I thought

I Can’t Do This

A nature trail with a gravel path from left upper to right lower in the picture. The path becomes very rocky and difficult to walk on at the bottom of the picture.

Everyone has said I can’t do this at some point. We go through life and do the best we can, but eventually we face a time when our ‘best’ isn’t good enough. We’re lost and don’t know what to do.
